Candidates who complete the CFE also need to complete practical experience and apply for membership with a provincial CPA body.
Complete experience
CPA certification requires a period of practical experience, which is administered by provincial CPA bodies.
Candidates who have completed CPA practical experience, legacy CGA, or legacy CMA experience: contact your provincial body directly for instructions.

Candidates who have completed CA legacy experience: submit a Competency-Based Confirmation of Practical Experience Certificate to the email address noted on the form (For MB: Please copy practicalexperience@cpamb.ca when you send the form).
Complete PD (BC only)
In BC, candidates must have completed seven hours of professional development after writing the CFE before they can apply for membership. For information, visit the CPABC website.
Apply for membership
After completing the CFE and practical experience requirements, candidates can apply for membership with a provincial CPA body. The provincial body will let you know when you can call yourself a CPA.

Candidates continue to have access to VPL via Desire2Learn until admitted as a member of a provincial body.
Graduate
After the provincial body confirms with CPAWSB that a candidate has been approved for membership, we change the candidate's status in our database to graduate.
