The Transition Student Guidelines documents contain degree, practical experience, and education completion deadlines, and the consequences tied to missing these dates, which include being removed from the certification program and losing your transition rights.
Transition Guidelines (Alberta)
Transition Guidelines (BC, Manitoba, Saskatchewan)
The guidelines are outlined according to your legacy or CPA education status:
- Completed legacy education: These apply if you completed education requirements for a legacy program but have not completed the degree and/or practical experience requirements for certification.
- Transitioned to CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP): These apply if you did not complete legacy education and transitioned to the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP).
- Transitioned to CPA preparatory courses (formerly CPA PREP): These apply if you did not complete legacy education and transitioned to the CPA preparatory courses (formerly the CPA Prerequisite Education Program (CPA PREP)).
To help you understand the deadlines that you need to meet, CPAWSB has created a transition tool, available here. This tool is provided for guidance only. Please contact CPAWSB if you have questions about completing legacy CA requirements or if you have questions about education deadlines and transitioned to CPA PEP or CPA preparatory courses. Please contact your CPA provincial body if you are a legacy CMA or CGA student or have questions about completing CPA experience.
