CPA PEP Admission

To enter CPA PEP, you are required to have: 

  • a three- or four-year undergraduate degree or Master’s degree. 
  • 120 credit hours of post-secondary education. 
  • completion of prerequisite learning.  

If you do not have a degree and/or are not working towards obtaining a degree, the Mature Entrant Pathway is available to those who have at least eight years of relevant full-time work experience that meets the CPA competency standards. Please note, qualifying through this pathway provides eligible applicants with an exemption from the CPA degree requirement only; applicants are still required to complete the 14 CPA prerequisite courses. 

  • A passing grade or 60 percent, whichever is higher, in each applicable core course, and 
  • A passing grade or 50 percent, whichever is higher, in each applicable non-core course, and  
  • A minimum cumulative GPA requirement of 65 percent calculated from all core courses.

  • Economics 
  • Statistics 
  • Business Law 
  • Information Technology 

Core courses include: 

  • Intermediate Financial Reporting 1  
  • Intermediate Financial Reporting 2  
  • Advanced Financial Reporting  
  • Corporate Finance  
  • Audit and Assurance  
  • Taxation  
  • Intermediate Management Accounting  
  • Performance Management  

For admission to the CPA PEP, you must have completed at least one applicable course in each of the CPA competency areas of Financial Reporting, Strategy and Governance, Management Accounting, Audit and Assurance, Finance and Taxation within the last 10 years.  

If you are seeking admission to the CPA PEP but lack some or all of the necessary prerequisites for entry, you can take CPA preparatory courses through the CPA Western School of Business. You only have to complete the courses you require.
