Required Documents FAQ

After you request a transcript assessment, the document checklist will be populated based on the education history you entered. The document checklist indicates the documents required to be submitted for your transcript assessment and when they have been received. 

To be deemed official, a document must be sent directly from the issuing institution to:

Note: All submitted documents must be in English. Non-English documents require translation should be submitted to us by a certified translator. Do not send documents to provincial CPA offices as this may significantly delay your transcript assessment completion. 

Once you have submitted your transcript assessment, you can log into My CPA portal and navigate to your document checklist to see the status of your documents. Please reference this tutorial video on how your document checklist will help you track your documents.  
Please note: Only documents received directly from the issuing institution are considered official. 

We require official transcripts sent directly from the issuing post-secondary institution. If you have an exceptional circumstance that prevents you from accessing official documents, please contact transcriptassessment@cpawsb.ca. 

If you are registered in Core 1, you may submit an unofficial transcript to be used to assess your eligibility to module. Please arrange for the official transcript with conferral date to be submitted as soon as the transcripts are available. 

Unofficial transcripts are to be sent in a pdf format to transcriptassessment@cpawsb.ca and must include your name along with the institution. 

All documents must be submitted in English. 

You are not required to submit any transcripts for courses completed through CPAWSB.  

Original or notarized copies are not accepted. The transcripts must be official as they are used to verify any exemptions towards the CPA prerequisites.  

You are responsible for arranging to have all required documents sent to CPAWSB for assessment. Please contact your post-secondary institution and request your official transcript be sent in a sealed envelope to:

Transcript assessments are completed with official documents.

We do not return domestic transcripts because once they have been opened by CPAWSB they are no longer considered official documents. Please contact your post-secondary institution to request an official transcript. 

Documents are held for 2 years as per our retention policy. It is best to contact transcriptassessment@cpawsb.ca to confirm the status of your documents. If you have taken additional education since you last submitted documents, we will require new transcripts.
