CPAWSB May 2022 CFE Vaccination Requirement
1. Will I be required to be vaccinated to write my exam in-person?
In line with public health guidance, CPAWSB encourages vaccination to minimize risks associated with Covid-19. However, there is no requirement to be vaccinated to attend a CPAWSB exam centre.
2. What COVID protocols will be followed for the May CFE?
In line with public health guidance, CPAWSB encourages vaccination and mask wearing to minimize risks associated with Covid-19. In addition, all writers and exam staff will be required to:
- Answer health screening questions before entering the exam centre.
- Adhere to capacity limits.
- Adhere to any safety measures in place at venues.

3. Will I be able to provide proof of negative test?
In line with public health guidance, CPAWSB encourages vaccination to minimize risks associated with Covid-19. However, there is no requirement for individuals who are not vaccinated to provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test.
4. What happens if I get sick before an exam?
If you exhibit Covid-19 symptoms before your exam, please contact [email protected] for CFE/PEP exams and [email protected] for preparatory course exams to discuss options available to you to withdraw from or postpone your exam. Please do not arrive at an exam centre if you have Covid-19 symptoms, as you will be sent home and told to contact your health region for further instructions.
5. What health and safety requirements will I be following if I am writing my exam outside of the CPAWSB region?
You will be required to meet the health and safety requirements set out by the region or province you are writing your exam in. You will be contacted by that region directly to confirm the requirements and any applicable processes prior to the exam.

6. Will the May 2022 CFE be delivered in hotel rooms?
After careful consideration, the May 2022 CFE will take place from May 25 to May 27, and will be offered using rigorous health and safety measures and the same hotel delivery approach that allowed for the in-person writing of the September 2021 CFE. As with the September 2021 CFE, candidates will write the May 2022 CFE at multiple hotels in the usual cities where the CFE has been held in the past. Each candidate will be assigned their own hotel room for the duration of their examination. Within each room, candidates will have access to their own washroom and writing desk.
7. What software will be used on the CFE?
You will be provided with a CPA-issued laptop at the exam centre to write the CFE. The laptop is locked down to restrict access to everything other than the exam software and CPA provided reference materials. The software being used, and additional information will be announced closer to the scheduled exam date. Within the software, you will have access to a word processor and spreadsheet software to capture your responses.
8. Can I download Folio Views to practice for the May 2022 CFE?
If Folio views is used on the May 2022 CFE, a new version will be required. Please note that previous versions have expired and will no longer work.More information on which software will be used on the May 2022 CFE will be provided as soon as it is available.
9. Where do I find information about where the exam will be held in my city?
Information will be sent out to all exam writers with specific details of the exam location in each city. Requests to change your exam centre to a different city must be made at least six (6) weeks in advance of the scheduled exam dates. Requests submitted within six weeks of the scheduled exam date may not be accommodated due to location capacities and laptop availability.
10. I live outside of an exam centre; do I have to travel to an exam centre to write my exam? Can I complete my exam if I am outside of Canada?
All writers are required to attend the in-person exam at their scheduled location. Accommodation will not be made for candidates to write in any cities outside of Canada.
11. Will I be able to write the CFE in another province?
Information will be sent out to all exam writers with specific details of the exam location in each city. Requests to change your exam centre to a different city must be made at least ten (10) weeks in advance of the scheduled exam date. Requests submitted within ten weeks of the scheduled exam date may not be accommodated due to location capacities as well as laptop availability.
12. What is the schedule like for an exam day? When do I need to arrive and how long will I be there for?
You will be required to arrive at least one hour early for your exam. In some large locations such as Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Burnaby, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Edmonton, you may be required to arrive more than one hour before your exam to facilitate the sign-in and screening process. Arrival times for each exam centre will be communicated with the exam location details. You must follow all instructions from the CPA staff and contractors on-site. Based on the schedule for the exam day, we suggest that writers do not schedule appointments or travel immediately before or after the exam. CPAWSB does not provide food and beverages at exam centres.
13. Where can I find information on the rules for writing an in-person exam?

The intention with these regulations is to maintain the structure of the CPA exam process and confidentiality of the CPA exam questions. All exam regulations must be followed at all times before, during, and after the examination. You must be familiar with the regulations prior to arriving at your exam centre.
14. What am I allowed to bring in the exam centre?
All exam regulations, including allowable and prohibited items, are available here. Any prohibited items brought into the exam centre will be confiscated on-site. CPA Canada and each CPA region has intentionally set very strict exam regulations for the CPA exams. The intention with these regulations is to maintain the structure of the CPA exam process and confidentiality of the CPA exam questions. All exam regulations must be followed at all times before, during, and after the examination. You must be familiar with the regulations prior to arriving at your exam centre.
15. Can I bring my own laptop to write the exam?
No, you are not permitted to bring your own laptop to the exam centre. All writers will receive a profession-supplied laptop with the exam software pre-loaded.
16. Can I use an external monitor connected to my laptop at the exam centre? Can I bring one or will one be provided?
