Transfers

CPA Canada requires that learners be registered in the region/province in which they permanently live and work. When a learner enrolled with CPAWSB permanently moves from one of the Western provinces to a new province, we will work with them and the new region/governing body to facilitate the transfer of their records. As CPA PEP and CPA preparatory courses are national, learners’ completed modules or courses and if applicable, completed experience hours are credited to them when they move to a new region/province.

Participating in Modules/Courses During the Transfer Process

CPA PEP

While their transfer request is being processed, Candidates can register for modules in their current region and attend workshops and exams in their new region. Candidates transferring from Western Canada must co-ordinate this accommodation by contacting cpamodule@cpawsb.ca. The team will work with the other region to facilitate the special registration arrangements. Candidates transferring to Western Canada must work with the delivery team in their current region.

CPA Pre-Professional Education

While their transfer request is being processed, Students can register for courses in their current region and attend exams in their new region. Students transferring from Western Canada must co-ordinate this accommodation by contacting prepapplication@cpawsb.ca. The team will work with the other region to facilitate the special registration arrangements. Students transferring to Western Canada must work with the delivery team in their current region.

Transferring out of the Western Region

To be eligible to transfer from Western Canada to another province or region, learners must be active for the current academic year, in good standing with the School, and if applicable, must have all experience completed in the West reported and up to date in PERT.

To start the transfer process, CPA PEP candidates contact cpaapplication@cpawsb.ca and CPA preparatory course students contact prepapplication@cpawsb.ca to request the official transfer form. CPAWSB will notify the new region of the transfer request and send them the learner’s file. The new region will then contact the learner with enrollment instructions. Candidates who transfer between regions are not required to pay the CPA PEP initial registration fee when they enroll in the new region. Learners will be assessed dues based on when the transfer process is completed. Depending on the time of year the transfer is completed, learners may be eligible for a pro-rated refund of dues paid to CPAWSB.

Transferring in to the Western Region

To transfer to the Western Region, work with your home region to have your file transferred to CPAWSB. After the School receives the transfer package, we will work with you to enroll you in the western region. Depending on the time of year the transfer is completed, you may be eligible for a pro-rated refund of the dues paid in the originating region.

Relocating within the Western Region

To move from one province or territory within the Western Region (Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon) to another in Western Canada, contact cpaapplication@cpawsb.ca (CPA PEP candidates) or prepapplication@cpawsb.ca (CPA preparatory course students) to change your governing CPA body and update your record.
