Information for CPA PEP Candidates

There is a path to completing CPA PEP for everyone currently in the program. Depending on experience deadlines, some candidates who complete CPA PEP may be eligible to transition to the CPA Professional Program to complete their experience.

Who Can Transition?

Candidates who are enrolled in CPA PEP with a practical experience deadline that expires:

  • after December 31, 2028, may be eligible to transition if they meet the transition requirements found here: Transition Path 
  • on or before December 31, 2028, are not eligible to transition.

Your Practical Experience Deadline can be found when you log onto your portal account, as seen in the screenshot.

If you are not eligible to transition or choose not to transition, then ensure you stay on track to complete each module and exam by its last offering. January 2027 is the final opportunity to begin CPA PEP at Core 1 (registration between October 13 and November 23, 2025) and complete all education and examination components within the remaining offerings. The final offering of the Core 1 exam is in June 2027.

Important: There are no May CFEs offered in 2027 and 2028, and the last CFE offering is September 2028.

Key Transition Dates

Please note, these dates are subject to change.

  • Late 2026: Registration for the first Knowledge Assessment opens in the west
  • Early 2027: 
    • Learners can begin submitting work experience plans. Up to 8 months of prior experience may be approved
    • Current learners can begin transitioning to the new program
  • January 2027: Last offering of CPA PEP Core 1 module starts
  • March 2027: First offering of the Knowledge Assessment
  • May 2027: First offering of new CPA Professional Program modules
    • There is no May 2027 CFE
  • June 2027: Last offering of the CPA PEP Core 1 exam
  • July 2027: Last offering of CPA PEP Core 2 module starts
  • September 2027: 
    • First offering of the CPA Professional Final Exams (subsequent offerings will be three times annually, with timing to be confirmed)
    • Last offering of the CPA PEP Core 2 exam
    • Second-last offering of the CFE (only offering in 2027)
  • January 2028: Last offering of CPA PEP elective modules starts
  • March 2028: Last offering of CPA PEP elective exams
  • May 2028: Last offering of the CPA PEP Capstone 1 module starts
    • There is no May 2028 CFE
  • July 2028: 
    • Last CPA PEP Capstone 1 presentations
    • Last offering of CPA PEP Capstone 2 module starts
  • September 2028: 
    • Last offering of the CFE (only offering of the CFE in 2028)
  • December 2028: Transition deadline for all learners (following the release of the September 2028 CFE results)

MOU Candidates

International designate candidates currently enrolled in PEP through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) pathway are not eligible to transition.
