Transcript Assessment FAQs
Note: CPA Accredited Program applicants do not need to request a transcript assessment.
The CPAWSB transcript assessment determines your eligibility to enroll in the CPA Professional Education Program (CPA PEP) and indicates what, if any, education requirements (prerequisite courses) are outstanding and can be fulfilled through CPA preparatory courses or at a post-secondary institution.
Regardless of your applicant type, transcript assessments can be submitted at any time, however a transcript assessment is valid for one year from the date of completion. If you do not complete an admission application for CPA PEP or CPA preparatory courses before your transcript assessment expires, you will need to request and pay for a new transcript assessment before being allowed to enroll to ensure that you still meet the entry requirements. There are also some specific situations for certain applicant types to consider:
- Qualified Applicants who are currently completing a recognized Canadian degree and are planning to enter the CPA program directly after graduating, the best time to apply is during your final semester.
- Qualified Applicants who are applying under the Mature Status, will usually have all or some of the 14 prerequisites to complete before applying to CPA PEP. If you have 6 or 7 years of relevant work experience and are currently working your way to the total 8 years of work experience required for entry into CPA PEP, you can request a transcript assessment now, and enroll into CPA preparatory courses or complete them through a recognized post secondary institution.
Yes. While living outside Canada, you can have a transcript assessment completed to confirm your eligibility for the CPA program. However, you need to live in Western Canada (British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Yukon) and have a valid study permit (as required) for your admission application to be approved and to enroll in the CPA program with the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB).

No. Request a transcript assessment BEFORE arranging to send any documents to CPAWSB for your transcript assessment. This will ensure that CPAWSB Transcript Assessment team members can:
- Attach your submitted documents to your profile and your transcript assessment request.
- Email you when each required document has been received.
- Identify when all your documents have been received and start your assessment promptly.
If you have already arranged to have documents submitted, but haven’t requested a transcript assessment yet, please do so immediately.
The transcript assessment fee is non-refundable and subject to change. For current program costs and fee schedules, please visit fees webpage.
As soon as you add a transcript assessment request in your My CPA profile, you will see the document checklist. Only certain sections of the Document Checklist will apply to you, depending on your applicant type. During the transcript assessment request process, identify the documents you plan to submit by checking the appropriate boxes in the I Will Submit column of the Document Checklist.
The following resources provide detailed information about understanding and using the document checklist:
You can pay with your credit card or pay from your bank account with INTERAC online services when prompted during the transcript assessment request process.
Within minutes of completing the transcript assessment request, you should receive an email indicating that your transcript assessment request has been received. Check your junk folder if it’s not in your inbox.
Within 2-3 business days, the transcript assessment team will confirm your transcript assessment request, verify the document checklist, and they will put a checkmark by the documents that are required for your assessment. Once this is done, you will receive an email indicating your Document Checklist has been updated.
See Using a Document Checklist or watch the Using a Document Checklist Instructional Video for a more detailed explanation of what you should do once you receive this email.
All applicants who request a transcript assessment will receive an email when the assessment has been completed, indicating that their transcript assessment results are now available for them to view from within their online profile.
International Designate applicants will also receive a second email from PEP Admission Services containing their Academic Bridging Results and next steps.
Applicants applying under Mature Status will also receive a second email from the Transcript Assessment team indicating if they qualified under mature status.
