CDWG Case Resources for PSIs

The CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB), CPA Ontario and CPA Atlantic School of Business (CPA ASB) provide post-secondary institutions (PSIs) with access to a library of cases for classroom instruction, discussion, and examination purposes.

CDWG Membership

The CDWG membership covers:

  • Access to the CDWG case library; and
  • Use of CDWG cases in classrooms throughout the academic year.

  • Annual fee: $2,212 plus applicable taxes per PSI
  • Membership term: Academic Year (September 1 to August 31)

* Membership is available to PSIs only.

The membership fee supports:

  • Development of new cases
  • Ongoing updates to existing cases
  • Alignment with professional and curriculum changes

To protect the integrity of the case library:

  • Each PSI designates one representative to request cases on behalf of instructors and share information and resources within the PSI.
  • PSIs will not have direct access to the complete case library. Instead, they will have access to a case index that includes details on competency coverage and other relevant information for each case.
  • Members may request specific cases for review and instructional use.

Cases are provided in editable formats, allowing instructors to customize them to suit their classroom needs.

The case library currently includes over 70 classroom cases and 20 examination cases. 

The collection includes: 

  • Revised legacy CA School of Accountancy (CA SOA) and CA School of Business (CASB) cases 
  • Adapted CPA PEP cases 
  • Newly authored cases developed by the CDWG 

Cases are maintained by the CDWG and are regularly updated to align with the Competency Map. Each year, member PSIs are surveyed to help identify priorities for future case development and updates. 

About the CDWG

The CDWG manages the case library in partnership with CPAWSB, CPA Ontario, and CPA ASB.

The committee is composed of representatives from CPAWSB, CPA Ontario, CPA ASB, and external members involved in CPA education who have a strong understanding of the Competency Map and case development. The committee meets once a month to:

  • Review and update existing cases
  • Develop new cases
  • Address emerging curriculum needs
