What Does "PEP Conditional Core 1" Mean?

If you are still completing your degree, finishing prerequisite courses, or waiting for your degree to be officially conferred, you may be eligible to start Core 1 as a conditional candidate.

A completed transcript assessment showing a status of PEP Conditional Core 1 allows you to:

You cannot submit a CPA PEP admission application while your transcript assessment is still in progress.

Who Qualifies?

You may qualify for a PEP Conditional Core 1 assessment result if you meet all CPA PEP admission requirements except for one of the following situations:

Your remaining prerequisite courses must:

  • Be in progress at the time of assessment
  • Be completed before the Core 1 start date

If the courses are being completed at a post-secondary institution, you must:

  • Submit official or unofficial transcripts showing the courses are in progress
  • Email [email protected] with the final exam date for each course

If you are completing CPA preparatory courses, then no additional action is required.

You can submit official or unofficial transcripts showing:

  • All degree requirements have been completed
  • The requirements for CPA PEP admission have been met

The transcript does not need to show a conferral date at this stage.

If official transcripts are not available in time for your assessment, unofficial transcripts may be used to determine your eligibility for conditional admission.

Important Registration Deadlines

To avoid late fees and registration issues:

Transcript assessments are typically completed within 10 business days after all required documents have been received.

Submit your CPA PEP admission application at least five business days before the Core 1 registration deadline.

This allows enough time for your application to be processed and approved before registration closes.

Your assessment cannot begin until all required documents have been received.

When planning to register for Core 1, be sure to allow time for:

  • Document collection
  • Document submission
  • Transcript assessment processing
  • Admission application processing

Missed the Core 1 Registration Deadline?

You may still be able to join Core 1 through the wait list.

To be eligible:

  • Your CPA PEP admission application must be approved.
  • You must request placement on the Core 1 wait list.
  • A wait list fee applies.

Once admitted and placed on the wait list, you may register for Core 1 up to one week before the module starts, subject to availability.

Becoming Fully PEP Eligible

Starting CPA PEP as a conditional candidate does not remove your outstanding admission requirements.

You must submit the required documents by the deadlines below to become fully PEP Eligible.

Submit Official Transcript(s)

Courses completed at a post-secondary institution

  • Once final grades are available, arrange for an official transcript showing final grades to be sent directly to CPAWSB. If CPAWSB does not receive the transcript before Core 2 begins, you will not be permitted to continue in Core 2.

    Deadline: Before the start of Core 2.

Courses completed at CPAWSB (CPA preparatory Courses)

No action is required. Your assessment will be updated once the courses are completed.

Once your degree has been officially conferred, arrange for your institution to send an official transcript showing the conferral date.

Deadline: Before Core 2 results are released.

If CPAWSB does not receive proof of degree conferral:

  • You may complete Core 2,
  • But your Core 2 final results will not be released, and
  • You will not be able to continue in CPA PEP.

Submit all outstanding official transcripts and documents to CPAWSB. Failure to submit official documentation before Core 2 begins will prevent you from continuing in the program.
