CPAWSB recently presented Christine Kissel, CPA, CA, with the David Inhaber Distinguished Facilitator Award. Funded by CPA Alberta, this award is given annually to a facilitator residing in Alberta, who is a Chartered Professional Accountant and is delivering the CPA Professional Education Program modules through the CPA Western School of Business (CPAWSB). The recipient of the award is selected by the CPAWSB and is recognized for their exemplary contribution to furthering CPAWSB’s education objectives.

Christine Kissel, CPA, CA

Christine attended the University of Lethbridge and graduated with a Bachelor of Management in 2004. From there, she started working on becoming a CA, getting her designation in 2009. Christine decided to start facilitating after having her daughter; she wanted work that would allow her to stay home. She completed CA facilitator training in February 2010 and started facilitating in May of that year.

Christine says “I was surprised by how much I love being a facilitator and that I don’t tire of it, which has kept me facilitating for so many years. The School is continually making changes to better the program, and I can always find new ways to add value to candidates.”

To candidates just starting the CPA PEP program, Christine offers: “it’s beneficial to dive into the recommended reading and resources right away as a starting point for your assignments. As well, candidates should also take advantage of their online facilitator and not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns”.

Although Christine is very busy, she manages to maintain a healthy work-life balance. She keeps active by teaching aerobics classes, through an aerobics business she runs with her friend. She must learn weekly choreographed routines that help not only her body but her brain too! Christine also volunteers her time helping at her daughter’s school and sports teams.

CPAWSB is proud to have Christine as part of its team. Congratulations, Christine!
