Workshop FAQ

Module workshops will be delivered through a virtual format with the option for candidates to select in-person participation at the time of registration. In-person offerings will be available on an ongoing basis in select locations, subject to candidate interest. Once the registration period closes, each candidate will receive confirmation of virtual or in-person workshop attendance based on their selection and the workshop availability.

Note: all Capstone 1 workshops and panel presentations will be organized in a virtual format. In person participation is not available for Capstone 1.

Each workshop is scheduled to start at 9:00 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m. on both days.

Links to the virtual workshops will be sent out by the Friday before the scheduled workshop date.

Candidates that have selected attendance at an in-person workshop location will receive confirmation of their workshop venue location one week before the scheduled workshop date.

You are expected to attend the entire workshop session. Arriving late or missing a portion of the session may affect your eligibility to attempt the module examination.

Absences or late arrivals are only permitted for extenuating circumstances beyond your control (for example, but not limited to illness, death of family member, attendance at funeral, cancelled/delayed flight, religious reasons). You must contact the accommodations team at cpaaccommodations@cpawsb.ca if you are unable to attend.

Non-extenuating circumstances would include work commitments, personal and business travel, and parties and in those cases an accommodation would not be approved. If you do not attend the workshop and are not eligible for an accommodation, you will not be eligible to write the exam.

The dress code for the workshop is "business casual". You are not required to wear suits or ties but are expected to look neat and pulled together. Clean, un-ripped jeans are acceptable.

No, CPAWSB does not provide lunch at the workshop.

You may be able to change your workshop location within the CPAWSB region after registering, provided there is space in the new location and you have received approval from the CPAWSB office in advance. Email cpamodule@cpawsb.ca at least four weeks before the workshop date to request a change in workshop location. Include your name, candidate number, and which workshop you are requesting to change.

You can also request to change your workshop location to another region (CPA Ontario, CPA Quebec, or CPA Atlantic). It is important to check the CPA PEP schedule of the region you wish to participate in to see if the module is offered during the same session. Workshop locations in other regions are available on each region’s website; however, placement in your preferred location is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the other region.

CPAWSB does not arrange for internet access for the candidates at workshop locations. Download workshop materials before the workshop date to ensure you have them available offline.
