Strategic Leadership and Alignment
• Lead execution of the IS Strategic Plan and ensure alignment with CPAWSB’s strategic priorities.
• Represent CPAWSB in interprovincial technology forums and national digital initiatives.
• Develop and maintain the Systems Lifecycle Strategy and unified IT/EDTech governance frameworks.
• Translate business strategy into IS initiatives and investment priorities.
• Collaborate across departments to align operational initiatives with strategic goals.
• Provide input into systems lifecycle planning and governance.
• Support execution of strategic projects through operational readiness.
• Prepare and manage the IS budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and alignment with strategic objectives.
• Collaborate with academic leadership to evaluate, implement, and support learning management systems (LMS), assessment platforms, and other educational technologies.
• Ensure IT systems support pedagogical goals and learner engagement.
• Oversee implementation of SIS (Nova), NextGen Intelligence Platform, and Great Plains replacement.
• Guide adoption of cloud technologies, AI-driven platforms and emerging technologies.
• Manage Zero Trust security model and identity access management.
• Oversee firewall upgrades, infrastructure modernization, and deployment of new systems.
• Ensure seamless integration of new technologies with existing systems and scalable architecture.
• Maintain vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for IT services and equipment.
Digital Infrastructure and Innovation
• Lead strategic planning for automation and digital transformation.
• Define enterprise architecture standards and governance models.
• Guide modernization of disaster recovery and data retention strategies.
• Establish and oversee data governance frameworks to ensure data quality, integrity, and accessibility across systems.
• Ensure secure and compliant data architecture that enables effective decision-making.
• Automate IT onboarding and deployment processes.
• Enhance DevOps practices and agile delivery models.
• Partner with the Business Intelligence team to support institutional reporting and analytics for strategic planning and academic performance.
• Promote agile delivery models and service management frameworks.
• Support implementation of AI-driven learner analytics and data insights.
• Continuously improve IT service delivery models.
• Maintain and support legacy systems until decommissioned.
Cybersecurity
• Oversee cybersecurity risk programs and compliance frameworks (CIS 18, NIST CSF, PCI DSS).
• Support vendor selection, integration strategies, and IT vendor risk management.
• Integrate privacy measures into IS practices in line with the CPAWSB Privacy Policy.
• Deliver ongoing security awareness training and simulations.
• Lead incident response planning and post-incident reviews to strengthen organizational resilience.
• Annually review the collection and use of personal information for policy compliance.
Talent and Culture
• Champion hybrid work enablement and process automation.
• Position IS as a strategic advisor within the organization.
• Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Lead change management initiatives in collaboration with internal and external parties.
• Develop adoption strategies and training programs to support organizational readiness.
• Support professional development in cloud, cybersecurity, and AI.
• Mentor IS leaders and contribute to succession planning.
• Foster an inclusive and resilient IS workforce. Education & Technical Skills: Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in IT and cybersecurity, with at least 5 years in a leadership or management role.
• Professional certifications such as CISSP, CRISC, CISM, CISA, ITIL, or Microsoft/Azure certifications preferred.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
• Experience with virtualization technologies such as Hyper-V and VMware.
• Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST RMF/CSF, COBIT, ISO 27001, CIS, and PCI DSS.
• Experience conducting security reviews, risk assessments, and implementing cyber controls.
• Knowledge of GRC, IAM, Security Architecture, and Data Protection.
• Strong understanding of enterprise infrastructure, Microsoft 365, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
• Ability to align IT strategy with business goals.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage projects, align IT operations with business objectives and anticipate future technical trends.
