Getting Started
Before reviewing the information on our website and applying for admission to CPAWSB, it is important to determine your applicant type.
Your applicant type determines:
- The admission steps and requirements you need to follow
- The documents required for your academic review
- Other important aspects of the admissions process
To identify your applicant type, please use the Applicant Type Tool before proceeding.
Changes to Applicant Type
Applicant types will remain the same as those used in the current CPA PEP program, with one exception: "Advanced Experience" will replace "Mature Status". The documents required for an academic review will also remain largely unchanged. In the meantime, you can refer to the current CPA PEP applicant type pages to learn which documents will be required for your academic review.
Please be aware that when profile creation and academic review requests open, three specific “applicant types” will override all other standard applicant types during the profile creation process:
- Transitioning from CPA PEP (Active Candidate)
- Select this if you are an active candidate transitioning from CPA PEP to the CPA Professional Program.
- Transfer-in from outside the Western Region
- Select this if you are currently enrolled in another region and are transferring to CPAWSB from outside the Western Region.
- I have a non-expired assessment from CPA PEP
- Select this if you have had a transcript assessment completed for CPA PEP in the past and it has not expired.
If any of these situations apply to you, be sure to select the appropriate applicant type and provide your current CPA number when creating a profile for the CPA Professional Program. After you create your profile and submit your academic review request, your applicant type will be updated to reflect your actual applicant type based on the post-secondary education information you provide during profile creation.
General Admission Steps for the CPA Professional Program
For entry into the CPA Professional Program, the ability to create a profile and request an academic review will not be available until late Fall/early Winter.
(Specific dates are TBD and will be posted in future website updates)
When available, you will need to:
- Create a CPAWSB online profile and request an academic review
- Have official transcripts and/or documents submitted to CPAWSB that will be required for the academic review.
- When your academic review is completed, based on the following academic results, take your next steps:
- Academically Eligible or Academically Eligible with Conditions
- Submit an admission application for the CPA Professional Program
- Not Academically Eligible
- Review all your options for completing any outstanding admission requirements to become Academically Eligible or Academically Eligible with Conditions
- Review all your options for completing any outstanding admission requirements to become Academically Eligible or Academically Eligible with Conditions
- Academically Eligible or Academically Eligible with Conditions
Academic Review
- Confirms eligibility by assessing whether you meet the academic admission requirements for entry into the CPA Professional Program. If eligible, you can submit an admission application for the CPA Professional Program.
- Identifies unmet requirements and outlines options for completing them.
- Identifies potential advanced standing within the CPA Professional Program for some applicant types.
