We are seeking a Manager, Program Development to lead curriculum and program development projects across our education portfolio, including the CPA Professional Program. This is an exciting opportunity for a CPA and educational leader who is passionate about learning design, continuous improvement, and creating exceptional learner experiences.
As Manager, Program Development, you will oversee the design, development, evaluation, and continuous improvement of CPAWSB's educational programs. Working closely with colleagues across Learning and Innovation, including Education Technology, Learner Support, and Learning Partnerships, you will help ensure our curriculum remains relevant, evidence-based, and aligned with the competencies required of future CPAs.
You will lead complex projects, manage cross-functional teams, and contribute to strategic planning that supports CPAWSB's mission and long-term goals
This is a full time, permanent role.
Duties and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to:
- Lead Program Development
- Lead program design and development initiatives for CPAWSB education programs, including the CPA Professional Program and other learning offerings ensuring objectives, timelines, budgets and deliverables are achieved.
- Ensure program design reflects pedagogical best practices for teaching and learning
- Ensure curriculum, learning outcomes, educational content, and assessment approaches align with the CPA Competency Map, national standards, and evolving professional requirements.
- Monitor learner outcomes, program performance, and educational effectiveness to identify opportunities for enhancement.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of innovative and evidence-informed approaches to curriculum and program design.
- Leadership and Operational Management
- Support the Director, Program Development in the development and implementation of strategic plans, operational plans, budgets, and departmental priorities.
- Execute departmental plans through effective resource allocation, project management, and achievement of team goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and performance management to assigned team members.
- Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, standards, and practices that support program quality and operational effectiveness.
- Develop, monitor, and report on performance measures that support continuous improvement and learner success.
- Research, Evaluation, and Continuous Improvement
- Stay informed of emerging educational trends, adult learning practices, professional education developments, and learner feedback to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to educational research and evaluation activities that inform curriculum design, program enhancements, and learner success strategies.
- Identify opportunities to pilot, evaluate, and implement program improvements using research-informed and evidence-based practices.
- Analyze program data and stakeholder feedback to support decision-making and continuous enhancement of educational offerings.
- Partnership, and Organizational Collaboration
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to support effective curriculum development, program delivery, and learner outcomes.
- Represent Program Development on regional and national committees, working groups, and project teams, as required.
- Work closely with Education Technology, Learner Support, Learning Partnerships, and other organizational functions to support an integrated learner experience.
- Contribute subject matter expertise to cross-functional initiatives, organizational priorities, and strategic projects.
- Privacy and Compliance
- Conduct an annual review of personal information collected by the department to ensure collection practices remain necessary, appropriate, and limited to the minimum information required for identified purposes.
- Ensure privacy requirements are incorporated into departmental operations and practices in accordance with CPAWSB policies and applicable legislation.
- Support compliance with information management, privacy, and records management requirements and coordinate with the school's Privacy Officer, as required.
Qualifications
Include but are not limited to:
- CPA designation required.
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, adult education, instructional design, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in accounting curriculum development or adult education, or a combination thereof.
- Experience leading curriculum design, program development, or educational improvement initiatives.
- Experience managing employees, teams and complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Experience analyzing educational outcomes and using data to support continuous improvement and decision-making.
- Experience working within competency-based education frameworks.
- Experience facilitating or session leading professional accounting courses is an asset.
This role is eligible for hybrid work. The CPAWSB is based primarily in Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. If based outside of these centers, the successful candidate may be required to travel to a CPAWSB office from time to time, or as required.
The salary range for this role is $85,700 to $128,500, depending on qualifications, experience and internal equity.
