Pursuing the CPA designation can be both exciting and rewarding, but it also comes with financial challenges. The CPA Manitoba Foundation  provides meaningful financial support to candidates and students at various stages of their CPA journey.

Several funding options are available on the CPA Manitoba Foundation’s website. Here is a short list of awards and scholarships available to learners in Manitoba:
  • Canada Life Leadership Award ($5,000) – Given to one successful CFE candidate who exemplifies leadership in academic, work and community activities.
  • CFE Honour Roll Award ($1,500) – Given to candidate(s) placed on the Common Final Examination (CFE) roll.
  • Dowhan Family Enrichment Award – Given to a CPA candidate or student who demonstrates positive contributions and enhancements in their community, professional, academic or volunteer positions through sustainability or innovation.
  • James W. Clarke, FCPA, FCA Award ($1,000) – Given to an Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, Métis) candidate who has successfully completed the CFE. 
  • Kristin Dawn Hanson, CGA Memorial Award – Given to an applicant with the highest mark in Advanced Financial Reporting (AFR) in the calendar year.
  • Larry H. Frostiak, FCPA, FCA Scholarship ($1,500) – Given to applicants entering CPA PEP who demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities.
  • Leonard Steingarten, CPA, CA Public Practice Award Given to a CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) candidate who has secured and begun training as a designated accountant with a Manitoba-based (non-national) public practice firm.
  • Lorraine Taraska, FCPA, FCA Scholarship ($1,500) – Given to applicants entering CPA PEP who demonstrate a passion for involvement in community activities and leadership abilities. 
  • Mossman-Elkow CPA Entrance Scholarship – Given to an undergraduate accounting graduate at the University of Manitoba who has entered the CPA program with a minimum 3.5 GPA and has taken the specified financial and accounting courses. 
  • Red River Mutual Scholarship – Given to an applicant who has successfully completed one of the core CPA preparatory courses and has volunteered in their community in a meaningful way.
  • Thomas Sill Community Service Award ($1,500) – Given to two applicants in good standing who demonstrate a passion for leadership through volunteering in Manitoba. 
  • William G. Eamer, FCPA, FCA Public Accounting Award ($1,500) – Given to two CFE candidates who exemplify overall academic achievement with a focus on Assurance and Taxation.
Since it began in 2015, the CPA Manitoba Foundation has awarded over $2 million in funding to more than 500 candidates and students. Explore your options, prepare thoughtfully and take that next step toward making your CPA ambitions a reality.
