Good Day British Columbian Learners!

Did you know that CPABC has an education foundation with funding available for students in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP) and CPA preparatory courses? Twice a year in May and November, students in financial need can send in applications for awards up to $3,000. In addition, there are several other funding opportunities for students who have children, are focusing on audit or assurance, or need computer equipment. See below!

In collaboration with Megan Yarema, Associate Director, Charitable Initiatives, CPAEF, and Denise Chan, Director, Partnerships, CPAWSB, we bring you this blog post outlining some of the available awards for BC learners:
  • CPAEF PEP/Prep Bursary – up to $3,000: learners must have completed at least two CPA preparatory courses or be registered in Core 1.
  • CPA Technology Award – $2,000: for learners who need computer equipment.
  • Childcare Supplement – $1,000: for CPA PEP candidates with children under 12 who are in financial need.
  • CPA Insurance Plans West Bursary for Families – $1,500: for CPA PEP candidates with children who are balancing work/studies and family.
  • Brian Friedrich Bursary – $3,000: for learners who are career changers and are innovative thinkers.
  • Indigenous PEP Bursary – up to $3,000: for Indigenous CPA PEP candidates who are not currently funded through CPAWSB.
  • Telus Award for Indigenous Post-Secondary Success – $2,500: BC students who identify as Indigenous and have completed at least 2 prep courses or are registered in Core 1 or another module.
  • Telus Award for Black Post-Secondary Success – $2,500: BC students who identify as Black and have completed at least 2 prep courses or are registered in Core 1 or another module.

Of note, there is a new award this year:
  • Tax Executives Institute (TEI) Award in Tax – $2,000:  for CPA PEP candidates – the award will be given to the person with the highest mark in the Taxation Module this spring.

Since its establishment in 2015, the CPA Education Foundation has given out over $1 million to students from high school, post-secondary school and candidates at CPA Western School of Business.
