What the Data Tells Us About Candidate Outcomes
One of the core skills candidates develop throughout CPA PEP is data analysis, and it turns out we practice what we preach. We regularly analyze candidate outcomes here at CPAWSB, and over time, some pretty consistent patterns have emerged from our statistical models. Two findings stand out. First, candidates who enter CPA PEP with weaker post-secondary academic scores tend to have a harder time with the CFE. Second, candidates who've previously struggled with a core or elective module face similar headwinds when exam day arrives. Neither of these findings is meant to discourage anyone. Quite the opposite: they're an opportunity to learn.
Support for Candidates Early in Their CPA PEP Journey
If you’re early on in your CPA PEP journey, consider enrolling in the PEP Readiness Initiative. Take a look through our blog posts and you’ll likely find other resources that are useful to you! One of our most recent blog posts highlights a new set of YouTube videos created by CPAWSB to help prepare for the Core 1 exam. Finally, if you’re new to the program, make sure you’re reviewing the material in the “Introduction to the PEP” D2L Module on Brightspace. Here's the thing: you only get three attempts at each of the Core exams and the CFE. So before you take an exam, it's worth asking yourself whether you're genuinely ready, or whether a bit more preparation time could meaningfully change your outcome. A slower path to a pass beats a faster path to a fail, every single time.
